Sean Dyche is feeling positive about Everton's recent performance, especially after their 1-0 FA Cup third-round replay win against Crystal Palace. The victory earned them a home tie against Luton Town in the next round, thanks to Andre Gomes' brilliant free-kick just before halftime. Dyche acknowledged that Everton didn't display their best teamwork that night, but he emphasized the importance of their ability to navigate challenging moments. Just three days prior, they had a goalless draw against high-flying Aston Villa. Dyche stressed the significance of maintaining a winning mentality, praising the team for achieving three clean sheets in a row. "I'm pleased with three clean sheets on the bounce, unbeaten in three, of course, and a win – in the Cup, but we still want to win, get that winning mentality and maintain it," Dyche told evertontv. Despite not being at their peak performance, Everton secured the win with Andre's exceptional goal. Reflecting on the Crystal Palace game, Dyche highlighted some good individual performances, even though the team didn't find their usual fluidity. He acknowledged the uniqueness of cup competitions, where the energy both on and off the pitch differs from regular league matches, often leading to surprising results. Dyche noted that the first half of the game was somewhat flat, except for the quality moment that led to the goal. In the second half, there was more purpose in their play, though they couldn't find the final killer moments. However, winning 1-0 when not playing at their best is seen as a positive sign by Dyche. Heading into a free weekend due to the delayed winter break, Dyche mentioned giving the players and staff a short break to recharge physically and mentally. He hopes this break will also benefit players like Abdoulaye Doucoure and Seamus Coleman, who missed the Cup replay due to hamstring issues. "We have a thin squad and a couple of injuries, with Doucs, who is unfortunately injured and we're not sure how long for yet, Seamus probably lesser so but we don't want any more injuries," Dyche added. He mentioned that some players are on the road to recovery, and the break will allow them to balance the squad, ensuring players get the rest they need while staying fit. With eyes on the upcoming FA Cup fourth-round clash with Luton Town, Dyche is optimistic about the progress his team is making, both in terms of results and the players' overall well-being.
